Occupational Therapist

Charity is a highly skilled and seasoned Occupational Therapist to join the UPT team and is part of the Pelvic Health Program (2021). As an OT she has enjoyed over 22 years in clinical care. Since graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree (2000) from Loma Linda University, CA she has thrived in the versatility of helping people achieve goals of independence in the activities important to them.

For a decade she ran her own business specializing in wheelchair and home safety assessments as well as being an Assistive Technology Professional that contracted with Agrability, a federal agency that helps disabled farmers and ranchers. Before joining the UPT team, she worked in community, home health, and inpatient care at rehab hospitals focusing on neuro rehab, lymphedema management, self care and cognitive retraining, and upper body orthopedics with patients of all ages.

Charity excels in educating patients and caregivers about long-term management of chronic conditions to improve quality of life. Problem-solving with patients to modify activities and environments to facilitate optimal function, no matter the disability or injury, is her passion.

In 2020 she was named Clinician of the Year by a nationwide home health agency for her forward-thinking team approach in treating spinal cord injury patients. Her innovative ideas are now being presented nationwide at case management conferences to encourage insurance companies to allow therapists more freedom to help their patients achieve their dreams.

Along with her husband and 3 children, Charity loves raising and training horses, and an assortment of 4-H animals, and their dogs. Her family enjoys cattle roundups, our beautiful Utah mountains, and creating music together.
